Women’s Rooms
that is a long complicated subject.
red room, blue room
that room was a sanctuary
this room is a prison
Each of us have our own room,
placed within the vastness
of the house.
Patterns and behaviors
sleepiness, fighting to keep
our eyes open, as though we could
fall asleep instantaneously
of course
except when we are in bed
Or waking at 4 am, alert
more awake than ever.
Perhaps we simply need to find
a way to utilize the power
explore those altered states
beyond ordinary waking reality?
constant sleepiness,
sleeplessness
for in waking reality lies discontent
desire to move away
from the civilization
people have built.
If Freud thought that people were discontent
in 1930
what would he think of the world today?
even the transcendence of art
has become violent
we put it out there to fly or crash –
when we are angry there is a tendency
toward crashing
have we learned that lesson yet?
Is it better for me, or you
or both of us,
to be that type of creative
who elicits the desire to stroke?
Feminine energy is so misunderstood
portrayed in many twisted ways
women need a space to be themselves
placed within the vastness of the house
All women need a room.
